By Critical Link 258
Critical Link’s combines its MitySOM-5CSx with the Cyclone® V System on Chip (SoC) from Intel®, as well as memory subsystems and onboard power supplies to create a small form-factor System on Module (SOM). The MitySOM-5CSX is a production-ready board-level solution that delivers industrial performance and includes a range of configurations to fit design requirements.
The MitySOM-5CSx provides a complete and flexible CPU and FPGA infrastructure for highly-integrated embedded systems. These SOMs are designed for high-throughput applications requiring single or dual hard-core Cortex-A9 applications processors tightly integrated with FPGA fabric.
The MitySOM-5CSx SOM includes up to 2 GB of DDR3 CPU/FPGA RAM with ECC, 512 MB of dedicated DDR3 FPGA RAM (optional), and up to 48 MB of QSPI NOR Flash creating a high-bandwidth system for embedded applications. The Arm architecture supports several high level operating systems, including Embedded Linux. By combining six 3.125 Gbps transceivers, one PCIe hard core, up to 133 user I/O, and dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, the system can simultaneously acquire and efficiently process large amounts of data.
This device has been designed to support several upgrade options including various speed grades, memory configurations, and operating temperature specifications (including commercial and industrial temperature ranges).
The Cyclone V FPGA family has a flexibility that helps users fully utilize all available transceiver resources and keep designs in a smaller and lower cost device. These FPGAs provide the most flexibility in implementing independent protocols, implementing proprietary protocols with hardened building block. Intel SoCs integrate an Arm-based hard processor system (HPS) consisting of processor, peripherals, and memory interfaces with the FPGA fabric using a high-bandwidth interconnect backbone. Cyclone V SoCs reduce system power, system cost, and board size while increasing system performance by integrating discrete processor, FPGA, and digital signal processing (DSP) functions into a single, user customizable Arm-based system on a chip (SoC).
