Intel PowerSoC 5V & 12V DC-DC Step-Down Converters deliver power system-on-chip DC-DC converters featuring integrated inductors. They provide an industry-leading combination of high efficiency, small footprint, and low noise performance in an integrated product. Intel PowerSoC DC-DC converters are ideal for enterprise server, storage, communications, industrial, and test and measurement applications. Intel engineers their power technologies—high-frequency switching, magnetics, and packaging — into complete power system-on-chip products. Unlike discrete power products, these turnkey solutions give designers fully simulated, characterized, and production qualified power systems.
EP5357xUI DC/DC Converters & Eval Boards
Intel EP5357xUI 600mA DC/DC Converters are 600mA PowerSoCs which integrate MOSFET switches, control, compensation, and the magnetics in an advanced 2.5mm x 2.25mm QFN package. Integrated magnetics enable a tiny solution footprint, low output ripple, low part-count, and high-reliability while maintaining high efficiency. The complete solution can be implemented in as little as 10mm2. A proprietary light load mode (LLM) provides high efficiency in light load conditions. Intel EP5357xUI 600mA DC/DC Converters each use a 3-pin VID to easily select the output voltage setting. Output voltage settings are available in 2 optimized ranges providing coverage for typical VOUT settings. The VID pins can be changed on the fly for fast dynamic voltage scaling. Intel EP5357xUI 600mA DC/DC Converter Eval Boards are designed to offer a wide range of engineering evaluation capabilities. This includes the base configuration of a 0603 input capacitor and a 0805 output capacitor. Pads are available to add one additional input capacitor and two additional output capacitors for evaluation of performance over a wide range of input/output capacitor combinations. Pads are also available to populate an external resistor divider to enable output voltage programming of values not available using the VID. The pads are labeled R1 and R2. Pads are also available for placing an optional feedforward capacitor (labeled C9) across resistor R1. The External voltage divider option is available only with EP5357LUI. Jumpers are provided for easy programming of these signals: Light load mode (LLM), Enable, and VS0-VS2 output voltage selection pins. Test points are provided as well as clip leads for input and output connections. EP5357xUI 600mA DC/DC Converter eval boards come with input decoupling and input reverse polarity protection to safeguard the device from common setup mishaps.
