ON Semiconductor's stepper motor driver portfolio includes a wide selection of ICs operating at supply voltages less than 20 V. The low voltage, low saturation voltage type bi-directional motor driver ICs are optimal for use as 2-phase stepping motor drivers in printers, cameras and other portable equipment. The devices include built-in thermal shutdown circuitry so that IC scorching or burning is prevented in advance, even if the IC output is shorted. Many also boast the ability to draw zero current in standby mode. The devices are mainly classified into three categories based on the drive type: saturation drive, constant current drive, and PWM constant current.
